MCT8329A: Trying to measure the motor current using the MCT8329EVM

Part Number: MCT8329A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MCT8329EVM

Tool/software:

hello

We are using the MCt8329EVM to evaluate our brushless 3 phase 24VDC motor. Can someone please tell me how to convert the value read from SYS_STATUS3 to Amps, we currently simply read the number and divide by 256 but seems to yield the wrong values from what we are expecting.

Thanks

  • Hi Mike,

The data sheet revision will be updating the correction.

We need to use factor to convert to actual current.

     Current (in A) = (DC_BUS_CURR / 256 * (10mOhm/Rsense)).

The 10mOhm is default factor device internally using and hence please use the scaling as shown.

    Thanks and Best regards
