DRV8235: Driving Multiple motors using single DRV8235 motor driver

Part Number: DRV8235

Tool/software:

Hi,

The requirement is to drive two or three DC motors using a single DRV8235 motor driver, where the motor driver is controlled by an MCU.

So, I need some ideas to switch between the motors using a single driver. Given that driver can drive only one motor at a time.

The motor needs 5V of VM to operate with a minimum current requirement of 300mA.

It would be very helpful if I get information regarding this.

Thank you.

  • Hello,

The DRV8235 is a single H-bridge motor driver that is intended to drive one brushed-DC motor bi-directionally. If you are wanting to connect two or three motors to the outputs, you would need to include an external switch of some kind to switch between the intended motor terminals. Each motor would need to come to a complete stop before switching to the other motor.

If possible, could you please share a picture of the intended layout or schematic?

    Best,

    David
