DRV8847: how long should nSleep low signal last for IC to detect

Part Number: DRV8847

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer is using DRV8847, and they want to use nSLEEP to reset. They are asking how long should the nSLEEP low signal last for IC to detect and enter sleep mode.

I saw a tSLEEP in the datasheet, and the tSLEEP time must elapse before the device goes to sleep mode. Does this mean that nSLEEP low signal should last for at least tSLEEP time for IC to detect? Or can the time be shorter than this value?

Best Regards,

Kelly

  • Hi Kelly,

To ensure the DRV8847 properly enters sleep mode using the nSLEEP pin, the low signal on nSLEEP must persist for at least the duration specified by the tSLEEP parameter (typically 2us), as this internal timer must fully elapse before the device transitions into sleep mode; if nSLEEP is brought high again before tSLEEP expires, the IC may initiate but won’t complete the sleep sequence and will resume normal operation without ever truly sleeping.

    Best,

    David
