DRV8434: The different between DRV8434 and DRV8424

Part Number: DRV8434
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8424, ,

Tool/software:

Hi,

Please kindly help to provide the different between DRV8434 and DRV8424, we use the DRV8434 and we consider the DRV8424 is the low cost solution, and how to modify our design to change to DRV8424, thanks.

  • Hi Zhang,

The DRV8424 is pin-to pin compatible with the DRV8434. Which eliminates the need for layout changes. Additionally, the drivers have the same control interface, so existing wiring and pin strapping can be used. However, the DRV8424 is rated for 33V compared to the 48V supported by the DRV8434. Resizing for the components on VM is not necessary if they meet the voltage rating for DRV8424.

  • Hi Ahyiyah,

    Thanks for your support.

Now, we have the new issue for the DRV8343, we set the M0 and M1 for the Microstepping configuration, and the 1/128 step is fine, but the 1/256 is failure,

Can you please help to provide the 1/256 use's guide that we can evaluate, thanks.

  • Hi Zhang,

I just have a few questions.

Did you mean the DRV8434? Does the scope verify that M0 = DVDD (logic high) and M1 is floating when in 1/256 mode? Can you confirm if you're utilizing our EVM or your own board? Lastly is the GUI being used or an external controller to set the mode?

If you are using the DRV8434EVM and GUI. Doubling the step frequency compared to the 1/128 step frequency value, and setting the VREF and IFS values to 60-90% of the motor's rated current with smart tune decay enabled may resolve the issue.

    Best,

    Ahyiyah

  • Hi Ahyiyah,

We have solved this issue and thank you very much.
