DRV8323R: Gate resistor, discharge and low side protection diode

Part Number: DRV8323R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8323

Tool/software:

Hi all,

I am designing a DRV323 based motor driver, so I have a few questions and wanted to make sure of everything before adding these features. Here are my question:
1. Do I need to add a gate resistor, gate discharge diode and low side transient protection diodes? I know the DRV8323 is a smart gate driver block and there is no need to add any external components to drive the MOSFETs, but can I add a gate resistor, gate discharge diode and low side schottky diode to prevent negative transients? Would these extra components be an extra precaution to protect the mosfets and the DRV driver or would they make everything worse? I don't want to increase the inductance of the gate lines, is there an expert who can help with this?
2. Does the extra RC snubber circuit help to eliminate ringing?
