DRV2625: VDD peak current of DRV2625

Part Number: DRV2625

Tool/software:

Hi

We using DRV2625 EVM to drive LRA(13ohm) and measure DRV2625 VDD peak current by current probe

We find no matter what rated voltage we write, the peak current almost the same, but the peak current duration time will change

(For example we write rated voltage 0.3Vrms & 0.6Vrms, the peak current is almost the same ~230mA, but the peak current duration time is different (0.3Vrms is ~25us, 0.6Vrms is ~50us)

Is it a normal situation?

And can we lower this peak current by any DRV2625 register setting?

Or the only way to lower peak current is select higher resistance value LRA?

Thank you

Poki

  • Hello,

I believe this is a normal situation. If you are concerned about the peak current on VDD, I'd recommend adding some additional capacitance on the VDD trace. The peak current can then be supplied by the capacitor opposed to your supply. A higher resistance load should also reduce peak current draw.
