DRV8899-Q1EVM: DRVOFF and nSCS connection; no problem?

Part Number: DRV8899-Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8899-Q1

Tool/software:

HI team,

Is it no problem directly (0ohm) connection between DRV8899-Q1 and MSP430F261X-PM64 such EVM default connection?

DVDD is 5V, DRVOFF and nSCS is pulled up to DVDD internally.

On the ohter hand, MSP430F261X-PM64 has VCC+0.3V absmax.

Ochi

  • Hi Ochi-san,

    Thanks for your question.

Is it no problem directly (0ohm) connection between DRV8899-Q1 and MSP430F261X-PM64 such EVM default connection?

DVDD is 5V, DRVOFF and nSCS is pulled up to DVDD internally.

This is a non-issue. The internal pullup to 5 V DVDD is a weak 10 μA equivalent of 500 kΩ.

This would be easily overridden by the 3.3 V output of the MSP430 IO pin. The 10 μA current cannot cause any damage or malfunction to the MSP430. Thank you.
