TAS5634: 500W 1% reference design

Part Number: TAS5634

Tool/software:

Hi

Using the TAS5634 (PBTL architecture), with a 3-ohm load, the maximum power can meet 500W 1% THD+N.

1. The TAS5634 power supply is 63.2V. Is there a concern that it may exceed the upper PVDD voltage limit? The maximum PVDD_X voltage is 65V. Therefore, if the voltage spike exceeds this value, could it damage the device?

2. Are there other reference designs for 500W?

3. What is the integrate TAS5634 MOSFET maxima voltage? Is based on datasheet the same as the MOSFET's withstand maxima voltage?

  • Hello,

    1. Yes it voltage spikes exceed that absolute max PVDD rating the device can be damaged. Care needs to be taken to ensure this does not happen. Adding additional capacitance to the PVDD line can help. The recommended operating max is 62 V.

    2. We do not have a specific reference design for this use case. The datasheet and EVM schematics will be the best reference here.

    3. Yes the ratings within the datasheet are based on the maximum voltage the MOSFETs can handle.
