Hello.
Currently, I'm considering implementing the following IC to control valves for air conditioning control, enabling open/short detection both when the valve is operating and not operating.
Product under consideration: DRV8873SPWPRQ1 or DRV81004-Q1
Function Implementation Details
- 4 or more Sol Valves needing control
- Sol Valve specifications: Current consumption 0.5A, DC24V (14W)
- AEC standard compliant
- Open/short detection is required both when the valve is operating and not operating.
I'd like to inquire whether the product I'm considering is suitable for implementing the above function. Please also let me know if you have any other recommendations.
In particular, it seems difficult to detect open/short conditions when the valve is not operating.

Demand per year (annual production volume): 1K/year or more
