DRV8323R: Cycle ON-OFF

Part Number: DRV8323R

Hello,

We wish to control the power of our engine by cutting the VM power.

Example :

The idea would be to control VM with a cut-off on the component.

How many ON-OFF cycles can the component withstand?

What is the functional consequence?

How will the component withstand these cuts?

Best Regard,

Johann

  • Hi Johann,

This method to control the motor is not recommended. Turning on and off VM can result in VM ringing that can stress the driver and the FETs and cause big in rush currents. VM turning on and of like this can also result in scenarios where VM is off and the driver is off but the motor has not fully stopped spinning yet which can cause the bus voltage to rise which can easily cause abs max violations that a relative to VM and VCP

Its best to use the ENABLE pin to stop the motor

    Regards,

    Yara
