MCT8329EVM: Recommended Default Register Values

I noticed on the Essential Controls page of the Guided Tuning Settings there is a drop down for Recommended Default Values. The title says to choose an application type but there is nothing on the pull down menu to choose. Is there a list of default motor values for a 24V motor (0.255 mH, 0.365 ohm, 8 pole & 3000rpm).

This feature is not being enabled properly in the GUI. Could you please share the motor end application details?

Hi,

My motor is driving an air compressor at extreme temperatures and varying pressure so the load changes accordingly. At room temperature It takes about a minute to get to full pressure where the motor turns off. The motor can turn in either direction. Braking is not utilized.

Hi Lawrence,

The MCT8329A is based on a sensorless trapezoidal control algorithm. It may not be able to reliably start the motor under loaded conditions. The same limitation applies to the MCF8329HS as well. Do you have any load sensing mechanism to start the motor only when the load drops to a certain low level?

Are you planning to test the motor using the MCT8329 EVM? What is the rated current of the motor? I will try to provide you with a default configuration based on your hardware specifications.

Hi Dhinesh,

Can you get me a set of register values to reliably turn the motor at room temperature with no load. The driver starts for less than a second then stalls with a nFault that doesn't show up in the fault registers. To release this fault I need to cycle 24vdc power.

I am using the MCT8329EVM. The motor current is rated at 8 amps.
