MCF8329A: Accessing MotorStudio GUI from custom PCB

Hi,

We've made a PCB using MCF8329A part. For testing the PCB with the motor, we're planning to use MotoStudio GUI.

In our circuit, we have given pullup for SCL & SDA lines. Can we solder wires from SCL & SDA lines & use an I2C to USB converter to access MotorStudio in PC ?

Kindly check & let us know the feasibility of the same.

For I2C to USB adapter, we're planning to use this: Aardvark I2C/SPI Host Adapter - Total Phase

Hi Prahaladh,

MotorStudio uses a proprietary communication protocol to interact with the MCF8329A device through a UART to I2C converter. The converter is based on a MSP430FR2355 microcontroller, and the corresponding source code is accessible here.
