DRV8412EVM(DRV8412)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8412

I have some questions about DRV8412EVM (DRV8412),

1. Can i control two Brushed DC motors with different rotation directions/speeds at the same time?

2. Is deadtime built in on DRV8412? if not, can you explain how to deal with PWM dead time? Since I have no idea how to avoid shot-through in the half bridge with only one PWM input (mode 1 or mode 2).

Look forward to any replies

Thanks

  • Circle Fang,

    1. You can exercise independent control of two brushed DC motors with the DRV8412, so they can be spinning at different directions/speeds.

    2. There is a built in dead time in the device that prevents cross-conduction; so you don't have to do anything special to avoid shoot-through. The only time you have to worry about shoot-through is when paralleling two full H-bridges. This can be remedied with additional inductance components externally.

    Thanks,

    Matt
