Analog to pwm converter chip to control DRV8801

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8801, TPA2005D1, DRV8837EVM

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a chip to convert an analog signal into a pwm signal to control the DRV8801. The pwm signal output should be about 32kHz. I found this chip : http://www.linear.com/product/LTC6992

I was wondering if there exist some others with better accuracy (this one has 3% maximum error) ?

Thank you in advance for your help,

Thomas

  • Thomas,

Is the analog signal you want to convert an AC or DC signal?  For AC, you would use an audio amplifier like our TPA2005D1.  Only problem is the switching frequency is fixed at 250kHz.

Brute force method for a DC signal would be to use one of our value line MSP430's to sample the signal and output the duty cycle proportionally.  We do this now on our DRV8837EVM that you can find online.
