Layout GND and VCC PLANE for DRV8312DDW and TMS320FC28035

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28035, TPS54160, DRV8312

Hi

My design based on DRV8312EVM include TMS320F28035 .

Design placed on single board 4 layers.

Can you explain GND PLANE (CPU and Driver) and POWER PLANE(3.3v ,12v ,24v)  placement.

Power Connector 24v is far for from Driver /Motor Connector place.

Please  write If need to add any details

 Thanks and Best Regards

  • Arkadi,

The DRV8312EVM is a 2-layer board, so there is no GND plane or VCC plane.  All of the GNDs are connected together with a flood on top and bottom and extensive vias scattered across the board.  We do not recommend seperating the GND between processor and driver.  When ControlCARD is seated in the slot on the EVM, the GNDs are directly connected together.

On EVM, we use a buck regulator (TPS54160) to generate 12V for the gate drive and VDD on DRV8312.  We use an LDO for 3.3V from the 12V buck output.  Again, no planes are used.  We simply route on the top or bottom layers to the respective pins.
