Does the DRV8332DKDR package drawing match the actual part?

I ordered a sample of the DRV8332DKDR.  It does not seem to reflect what is drawn in the datasheet.  It is only correct if I turn the part upside down.

On the chip there is a missing corner along with a dot on the bottom that I would assume indicates the position of pin 1.  When this part is upside down it matches the drawing. When I turn it right side up, with the thermal pad on the top and the pins on the bottom, it is mirrored.

My question is: What is wrong, the datasheet, or the pin 1 markings on the actual part?

And if the datasheet is wrong, why do these pins number in the opposite direction?

  • Kam,

The datasheet is OK and so is your part.  Please see the attached picture....apologize for the fuzzy image as you can only do so much with a smartphone camera lens.  I have circled the pin 1 marking that is really a circle with some hash marks thru it.  What you are referring to is the "dimble" on the back, which is NOT pin 1.

Sorry for the confusion.  If I think about it too much, I confuse myself as it is not too easy to make out the marking without some good lighting.

  • Thank you Ryan!!! I didn't even see that marking before. You have to have it a just the right angle for the light to reflect off it.

So the only thing that would be incorrect is the cut corner? In your image its on the bottom right, in the datasheet, its on the bottom left.
