DRV8312EVM / OPA365

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA365

Hi,

On the DRV8312EVM there is the use of the OPA365 for sampling the currents out of the 3 phases.

I saw the data sheet of the OPA365 and it seems to be a great amplifier, wide BW, Low Noise and great THD+N and high CMRR and fast setteling time.

Could you please point out what is the mose important parameter that due to it TI chose this amplifier?

What is the purpose for C18, C28 for example when it is mentioned in the schematics that it is "Stuff Option"?

Thanks,

Ran

  • Ran,

    Thanks for your post.

Slew rate and settling time are some of the most important specifications for accurate current sensing.  The OPA365 is 25V/us.  A general rule is the amp should be at least 10V/us.  Settling time is 300ns for 0.01% accuracy.  This is about 10x what is needed for most applications.

Good question on C28.  I honestly am not sure why these would be needed.  They offer a little high pass filtering, but not really sure why you would need them.  Guess that is why we chose not to stuff them. :)
