DRV8432 BLDC Functionality instead of DRV8332?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8332

Hello

We are busy designing a new Driver board and would like to be able to choose between BLDC, Bipolar stepper motor and Brushed DC is it possible to use the DRV8432 for the brushless motor? even if we have to add some extra logic to the system, if this is possible do you have the IC's for this?

The DRV8332 only has the capability for BLDC right? or also Brushed DC.

Regards

Edwin

  • Edwin,

Yes, the DRV8432 can certainly be used to drive a BLDC motor, but their is a catch depending on the algorithm you wish to use and if you want to due sensorless trapezoidal control.

The DRV8432 does NOT have seperate /RESET signals per half-bridge.  For trapezoidal BLDC control, you would need to HIZ each phase to measure BEMF.  That is what the DRV8332 allows you to do.

  • Please,Can you tell me more about that.I have a motor BLDC start connections (~ Y),it's have 6 wire hall sensor. So How can DRV8432 control this motor?

    My English's not good,sorry!

    Thanks
