How to build a board with few DRV2603 on it?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2603, DRV2603EVM-CT

Hi,

Hi there,

Today I received my 3 DRV2603 haptic LRA drivers. They are so miniature, I can't hold them easily.

What pieces do I need to create a board with 10-20 DVR2603 drivers on it, so I can control them by a microcontroller? I need this contraption to control 10-20 LRA (linear resonant actuators).

Thanks in advance,

T.P.

  • Toso,

Thanks for looking at the DRV2603.  Here are my recommendations:

    1. The DRV2603 requires a GPIO and PWM pin to operate.  If you need to operate 10-20 DRV2603, makes sure both of these pins are available for each device.
    2. For layout, I would recommend starting with the DRV2603EVM-CT.  You can find a schematic and layout reference design at the end of the User's Guide.
    3. For MSP430 (uController) software the DRV2603EVM-CT has software that can be downloaded from the evaluation kit product page. See TI.com.

    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Hello Team,

I received a sample of DVR2603 haptic driver for LRA Motors. I have the same problem, the package model for this driver is so diminute and and don't know how to manipulate it.

I don't need the whole Evaluation Kit beacause of my application system, it should be portable and as smallest as is posible.

I require to control only one driver with for one motor and I would like to know If you can give me another option or idea to use it differently to the Evaluation Kit.

    Sincerely,

    Andrés Celis

  • Andres,

You could check to see if there are any adapters like QFN to DIP etc., for this package.

Also if you are thinking of making a tiny PCB, we could provide you with a footprint.

  • Hi Gautham

I am going to try all the possibilities to use it, I am seaching for the adapter and, if you can provide my the footprnt I'll be very grateful.

  • Andres,

Here is an example PCB(*.pcb) with just the DRV2603 on it. The official models will be available soon on the product page of the DRV2603.
