DRV8801-Fault Errror when load is swiched on

Hello,

I am trying to set up a board with the drv8801. When the device is not loaded (out+ /out- ) the device works correctely (the applied PWM cand be seen between out+ and out-. When I set up a Load (Motor or Resistor of 100 Ohm) the device directely goes to a Fault state.

Here my PIN configuration:

- Phase: Direction CW /CCW

-Enable: PWM

-Mode 1/2: 1/0

-Sense: Connected to GND

- VBB =12VDC

I looked also to the values of CP1 and CP2. When I Change the VBB Voltage over ~14VDC the measured signal change from a PWM Signal of 170kHz with Offset to a "Signal some Pulses". Maybe this can be a starting point of solution?

Can you help me on that point?

Hi,

nfault happens on OCP, OTP and UVLO. 100 ohm @ 12V should not hit OCP. Could you check your power supply and the VBB voltage? Another side to check is your power Pad connection.

Will the fault last and hold or recover soon and repeat?

Hi,

thanks for the Answer.

the fault always recover after 1.2ms and then go back to Fault mode.

What should I verify by the Power Pad Connection? Actually I havent connected it to GND.

Hi,

Finally I could find the Error. I had a Problem in the PCB. The Sense pin wasn't connected to ground.

Now it works perfectely.
