I have recently obtained a DRV2603 EVM-CT and have been trying to modify the firmware via CCS.

It seems like I cannot get the device to register on my computer using an MSP430 eZ430-F2013 development kit.

I get an "Unknown Device" error.

It registers as discovered under my connected devices when plugged in, and a boot sequence occurs when I connect them.

I am concerned I have obtained a model with a bad SBW port.

I am running CCS 5.4.0.00091 under Windows 7

Lindsay,

I apologize for the inconvenience. The eZ430-F2013 no longer supports the MSP430G2553 micro-controller. We suggest switching to the MSP430 Launchpad board which is under $10. Please also order the J4 header mentioned in the DRV2603EVM-CT User's Guide.

J4 header? Is there a link you can provide to that part specifically.

And I am looking at a MSP-EXP430G2, is that the exact part necessary?

In the DRV2603EVM-CT User's Guide, there is a short firmware programming section. It lists the part number from Digi-Key and Mouser. See snippet below.

Solder this header to the J4 header holes on the MSP430 Launchpad. Then connect it to the SBW socket on the DRV2603EVM-CT.
