DRV8432 implementing Regen

I am using the DRV8432 with smaller motors under 4A’s on two machines on two other machines I am using a store bought solution. The other two are 7A and 12A respectively. My major issue at this time seems to be over-voltage by decelerating the motor fast some drives have either internal or external Regen Resistors. Has anyone been able to solve this problem? I currently have SMAJ28A TSV’s on each output as well as a 22uh coil ”inductor”.

  • Hi,

Could you give more info of your application and your problem? Such as following factors.

    VM voltage?

How fast you decelerating and the PWM duty?

How high is flyback voltage during decelerating?

Current limit setting and motor DC resistor?

It is better to have you schematic and the waveform at problem happened.

Regen resistor method may not have to be there in most applications.

    Thanks.
