Uni-polar stepper driven by a bi-polar driver

I would like to use a bi-polar drive to drive my 6 wire uni-polar stepper motor.  The problem is the center taps are internally connected.

I understand if they weren't internally connected I could just ignore the center taps.

Am I able to still use a bi-polar driver chip somehow?

  • Hi Sean,

Some devices that are intended to drive a bipolar stepper have a current regulation feature, which would interfere with your need to independently control the outputs.
