Hi Team,

Can you please tell me what to do with the thermal pad on the bottom of the DRV8601? Does it need to be grounded or left isolated to operate properly.

It should be soldered to the groundplane of the PCB which will act as a heat sync. There is a Thermal Information section near the bottom of the datasheet with layout information. Technically this isn't a PowerPad device, but check out this app note on PowerPad layout guidelines: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/sloa120/sloa120.pdf.
