Can we use the Home output (pin 2) as information that the driver is OK?
we intend to test it by inserting step commands and check that every fourth step it goes to low.
The mode is Full Step.

What exactly are you trying to check when you say "driver is OK"? Are you looking for a motor stall, over heating, over current, etc?
When the DRV8818 goes into TSD or UVLO proection it resets the indexer to the home position. This could possibly give a false indication, but it all depends how you are interpreting the signal.

Monitoring HOMEn does provide limited feedback that the indexer state machine is where you expect it, and that state can be offset from an over-current, over-temperature, or under-voltage event. However, this alone doesn't tell you with certainty that everything is functioning normally.

For faults for example, just reading permanently HOME and as it goes “low” indicate that there is a fault of LV, TEMP or OC?

Hi, I wanted to add an additional question:
Checking that voltages at AOUT1 with respect to AOUT2 and BOUT1 with respect to BOUT2 follow the sequence according to input step and direction (at full step mode using 4 steps) can be used as a test that the part is OK?

Hi Ran,
That is probably your best bet. If you can ensure that the HOME pin is in sequence with the stepping of the DRV8818 then the device is OK. In the case of a FAULT, you should see the indexer move to the HOME position and hold.
