Solution for customer idea

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8839, DRV8828, DRV8842

Hi,

It's really appreciated if you give me ideas whether TI has any of suggestions for customer's idea.

My customer designs a kind of portable equipment which uses series of coils in conjunction with magnet.(This magnet is spindle.)

Initial spin is derived from human, but their system uses these coils when the spindle need to be speed down by turning on FET.

On the other hand, customer would like to move this spindle faster by driving same coils.

In my understanding, if we consider only driving few coils, it seems like stepper motor, so some DRV88xx devices can drive. However for this case, I'm not sure that it's really doable or not.

Please feel free to contact to me, if you have any questions.

Thank you for your support.

Regards,

Ken

  • Hi Ken, thanks for sharing this.  Our stepper controllers could work, and if you have more than 2 coils to drive, look at single-H devices (such as DRV8828, DRV8842, DRV8839).  Slowing rotation speed is more conventionally done by controlling the inputs of the controller ICs.

    Best regards,
