about matlab model of nema17

I am building a controller in Simulink for the BLDC motor (DT4260-24-055-04) of the DRV8312EVM kit.

For the simulink block of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine, I need to know the following parameters:

Inertia, friction factor and pole pairs [ J(kg.m^2) F(N.m.s) p() ].

I fill in these parameters with the value of [0.68e-3, 1e-3, 4 ] .

But I am not sure about if the Inertia and friction factor are correct or not.

Could anyone please check them for me.

I got the inertia value from the datasheet in the webpage of http://www.telcointercon.com/uploads/pdf/nema17.pdf

It says the inertia is equal to 48 or 72 (kg.m^2). but the controller does not work only because of the value.

I think it is an important problem because everyone will have when using the model in Matlab.

Please help us determine the value.

Haifeng,

Mathworks may be able to give you this value. I'll also send this to some of the guys who use the simulation tools (I do not) and see if one of them happens to use the NEMA motor in their sims.

I doubt that the value on the datasheet is wrong because I check example models in simulink. They are extremely less than that of the NEMA motor datasheet

Hello Haifeng,

I have the numbers for you, depending on which motor you are using.

For the Anaheim Automation motor BLY172S-24V-4000, the data sheet lists the inertia as 680E-6 oz-in-sec². To translate this into SI units, it turns out to be 4.8E-6 Kg-m².

For the Telco motor, the datasheet values for inertia are WAY wrong. To be commensurate with a motor of this size, you should multiply the number given by either 10^-6 or 10^-7 to get within the right order of magnitude. I would suggest 10^-7since the DN4261-24-053 lists the value as 48, and it has almost identical dimensions to the above Anaheim Automation motor which has inertia of 4.8E-6 Kg-m².
