DRV8432 CBC (mode M1=1, M2=1, M3=0) not work for me

Sir, This mode not work for me. Using the DRV8432 in mode M1=1, M2=1, M3=0 Dual full bridges (one PWM input each full bridge with complementary PWM on second half bridge) with cycle-by-cycle current limit. Configuration = 2FB As i understand it if I put 50% duty cycle on pwmA, then the opposite inverted signal is internally routed to the B side. correct? but if this is true then i not understand how motor load is suppose to move in say cw direction. because 1/2 cycle motor moves in say CW direction then next 1/2 cycle motor moves in CCW opposite direction which in end means motor not move at all ... but in full stop? what am i missing here? Thanks, Steve
  • Hi Steve

    Yes, what you see is normal in this mode.

    In mode  M1=1, M2=1, M3=0, you can use only one PWM input for the full bridge driving. But you will get below results.

    >50% to 100%  ----->   forward driving

    =50%  --------->  stop (but with current consuming, Reset can be used to shut down the current)

    <50% to 0%  ---------->  reverse driving

    During driving, the current is doing fast decay in this method. The average current (and the torque) is a little lower comparing to slow decay driving method which is more commonly used in DC motor application.

    Thanks
