Hi,

I have a question about additional capacitor value on DRV8824.

Q1.  Can I connect 1uF capacitor between VMA and GND, and VMB and GND?

Q2.  Is there a limit to the capacitor value?

Now, I connect 0.1uF capacitor both VMA and VMB terminals.  However, I need to increase 1uF capacitor for improve antinoise measures.

    Hi Hide

    You can do that if it helps with the audio noise in your application.

    This cap will affect the current sample and regulation close loop response. it is just like you adding a filter and will introduce some decay on the current control.

    The good side is that stepper motor is not so sensitive to the current phase delay. especially at low speed running.

    For the larger cap value, you can do some test on the application side such as MAX speed, output torque. if all passed, the driver is ok with the bigger filter caps.
