About usages of LM628/LM629

Dear TI, I am a beginner in using TI's chips. I want to design a DC brush motor control board for some simple motor movement. I find there is one chip, LM628/LM629, is the dedicated chip for DC motor control. Does TI has some other dedicated chips for DC brush motor control? Is it more advanced than LM628/LM629 ( I feel LM628/LM629 is a very nice chip )?

By the way, do the engineers of TI give me some detailed examples about how to use LM628/LM629? I find there are no JTAG pins for LM628/LM629, so I am puzzled at how to download the programs?

Hi Gaoteng,

I'm from the group supporting this product. A good place to start is with the app note and user guide Rick mentioned above.

There are no JTAG pins for communication, however, the LM628/629 has a bidirectional data port for the host processor to write commands and read the status bytes.

The Programming Guide is the best place to start to learn the commands used to communicate to the LM628/9. Programming Guide located here: http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/snva025
