DRV8412-C2-Kit Current measurement scheme

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Can somebody help me to understand the current measurement scheme used in DRV8412-C2-Kit?.i.e. what is the maximum current that can be measured with this kit, Scaling factors used in current measurement chain scheme and positive & negative current measurement procedure (in bipolar PWM as well as Unipolar PWM switching schemes)?

  • Nitin,

I am going from memory without the circuit in front of me, but I think 7.2A will give you 3.3V at the ADC input.  0A will give you 1.65V (mid-range).  -7.2A will give you 0V.

It is a low-side current sense scheme, so current will only flow through the sense resistors when a low-side FET is conducting.

  • Ryan is correct. You can verify this in any of the -Settings.h files in controlSUITE DRV8412-C2-KIT

#define BASE_CURRENT    7.2             // Base peak phase current (amp) , maximum measurable peak current
