Driving High power TEC module (64V/6A)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV595, DRV8711

I'm trying to find a solution o driving high power TEC module (64V /6A) using one of TI's TEC drivers (DRV590...DRV595). My idea is to connect high voltage external H-Bridge with switching frequency of 250 KHz and current sense circuit for average current closed loop control.

Have anyone implemented such circuit?

  • Hi Shmuel

DRV595 has an internal H-Bridge with 4.5V to 26V voltage range. I'm not so sure about your opinion to use external H-Bridge with DRV595.

In stead, you may use DRV8711 (PWM mode) + external MOSFETs or DRV8432(in parallel mode) for you TEC application, needing a lower on the driving voltage from 64V to about < 52V.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Wilson

thanks for the answer. I've looked into these drivers and it seems thaey do not feet my requierments. I've found that UCD3138 is more suitable, but it is an MCU, that need some additional coding and IDE which is disadvantage for me.

    Thanks
