V3P3OUT on DRV8802 EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8803, DRV8802

Dear, Sir.

Now, I am having 2 DRV8803 EVM's.

I tried to check using the first EVM,  but it could not drive external DC motor.

I found that V3P3OUT=0V, so internal logic of DRV8802 looked no work.

Then, I got another, second one.

I can observe the same symptom as first one, no V3P3OUT again althouth no load(no DC motor but VM is applying).

I guess it can't drive the motor similar as first one.

Is there any kind of miss-operation ot bottle-neck?

Could you please give your advice to solve this issue.

Best Regards,

  • Hello Sakai,

Can you clarify about the actual part ? In your post you have mentioned DRV8802 and DRV8803 both.

    Best Regards

    Milan

  • Dear, Milan-san.

    Sorry for my miss-typing.

The actual part is DRV8802 EVM.

    I checked following additionally.

    1. ENA is making toggle when "PWM Control" set on the value, not 0.

        MSP430 will be working correctly.

    2. I changed VM power supply(9V).

The ramp-up speed on original is 20ms(0=>9V). Changed to 5ms.

        But no improvement.

Are 2 potentiometers on V3P3OUT better to remove?

    Best Regards,

  • Dear, Milan-san.

I found the cause of V3P3OUT issue.

nSLEEP box must be checked for V3P3OUT enable.

In addition, nRESET box also must be checked for the motor drive enable.

I am very sorry to disturb your job concerning this kind of simple matter.

Hopefully, these topics would be described on the user's manual.

    Best Regards,
