DRV8301 BoosterPack Motor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BOOSTXL-DRV8301, 2MTR-DYNO, DRV8312, DRV8301, LVSERVOMTR

Could anyone recommend a cheap 3-phase Induction Motor to be used with BOOSTXL-DRV8301 BoosterPack ? It supports up to 24V , 10A.

  • Hi Amr,

We are actually in the process of stocking a 3-phase BLDC motor that we will sell through the e-store. It should be available in a month or two. Until then you can check out Anaheim Automation motors if you need some immediately. There are several part numbers I can recommend (they are fairly low power motors though).

The BLY17 series are generally pretty good motors for BLDC evaluation.

  • you said IM. Do you mean induction machine?

I'm actually in process of releasing a new low voltage induction motor just for this purpose.  It will be in stock in early may it looks like.  Will also come with an adapter plate and shaft coupling to attach to 2MTR-DYNO so you can test the motor under load from the permanent magnet motor.

and as Nick stated, we are stocking up a new low cost ($49) 24V BLDC motor (no hall sensors, just 3ph) that is very similar to the Anaheim/Telco (two suppliers) motor we include in all of our DRV8312 EVMs.  This will be in stock in July and I'll be using it for a LaunchPad + BoosterPack workshop I'm creating.

If you want a nicer PM motor, we sell LVSERVOMTR .  This is the same as the 2 included in 2MTR-DYNO, except it includes a wiring harness that breaks out the Molex connector into bare wires.  I use this with the BOOSTXL-DRV8301, the DRV8301 EVM, and even with DRV8312 kits (though you need to provide extra 5V supply to DRV8312 EVM if using the encoder).
