Hi,
The motor will have the part number and manufacturer on it.
It is an ACT motor. PN:23HS8430. You should be able to find it here I believe. http://www.act-motor.com/product/23hs_en.html
Hi Nick, thanks for the feedback. According the electrical characteristics, this motor is rated for 3.0 Amp. Is it therefore 1.5 Amp per phase or is the 3 Amp rating per phase? I assume this is a 2 phase stepper motor?
No problem. The rating is 3A per phase. Correct, this is a 1.8 degree bipolar (2-phase) stepper.
Hi Nick, again thank you very much.
I am planning to use a power supply: 16V, 4.2A.
Based on an equation from a previous entry in this forum:
V_supply * I_supply = 2(phase) * 3V (motor voltage) *3A(per phase).
My supply is therefore more than adequate, but will the circuit be able to handle the 4.2A supplied? I understand that not all of this current will be utilized but is their a general guideline on the max input power (in Watt). I would appreciate your feedback.
Hi Marius,
You supply should work just fine.
The EVM will not draw more power from the supply than is required (set by the DRV8711). Vice versa the supply will not provide more power than is demanded. So you do not need to worry about this. As to the max rating for the DR8711EVM, I am not 100% sure here. The FETs are rated to 19A cont. so the main limiting factor will be thermal dissapation. I would estimate that this EVM is capable of more than 2x your supply.
Marius,
Thank you for the compliments, I will be sure to pass them on. We will also be releasing a TI BoosterPack shortly, based on the DRV8711 and CSD88537ND.

This BoosterPack can achieve 4.5A DC out of each H-bridge with no external thermal management (ambient was room temp) in an even smaller form factor.
Hello all =)
When are you going to release the BOOST-DRV8711?
Stepper motor included?
Thank you
Hi Danial,
The BoosterPack should release within the week. It will not include a stepper motor, but you can find bipolar stepper motors at a variety of websites. Let me know if you have any questions.
Hi Daniel,
The BOOST-DRV8711 is now released and orderable. Orders should begin shipping by the end of the week. Sorry for the delay.

Hello Nicholas
Thank you by your reply =)
But it seems it is out of stock already =(
Thx
Daniel.
Hi Daniel,
You should still be able to place an order. There is sometimes a 2-3 delay before our inventory updates after we release a tool. Orders should begin shipping by Friday.
