DRV2605 Compatible Motors

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2605

I have been planning on using the DRV2605 to drive a DMJBRN0934BW from SEMCO. However, recently the lead time for this part has become too long. Additionally, I have been having a hard time finding the datasheet for this motor to compare characteristics of potential replacements. What ratings, characteristics, etc. should I consider when looking for motors to replace this one?

  • Pat,

From an LRA standpoint, the SEMCO1030 and SEMCO1036 are very close in performance but slightly different in size with the SEMCO1036 being stronger. (10= 10mm Diameter, 30 = 3mm Height)

Since we drive them at resonance you need not look at frequency characteristics. The other parameters to look at are,

    1. Rated Voltage(configurable)

    2. Overdrive Clamp(configurable)

You might also check this link to find stock info: (I found stock for the 0934LRA--now)

  • Thank you Gautham,

I appreciate the advice. Right now, the LRA is already a pretty tight fit, so I think the 1030 and 1036 will probably be too wide for my design. As for the link, I am seeing available units, but none in stock. The lead time is listed as "Call for Delivery" which I was told would be about a month. I think I may have to look elsewhere or just wait it out.

    Thanks again,

    Pat Benike

  • Pat,

I apologize for Avnet's delay in having these parts.  We are delayed with the unexpected red tape delays that are being ironed out as we speak.

If you need smaller LRAs, SEMCO also makes an 0832 version that might be better fit for your applications:

  • Pat,

I would also recommend the SEMCO0832. We have tested a sample of these in the lab and there is a lot of interest in form-factor applications (esp. wearables).

    What is your target application?

Thanks for your support Matt !

  • Gautham,

We intend on prototyping the motor for a wearable application, so the 0832 would also be a good decision. We'll look into throwing a couple on our current prototypes. Thanks again.

    Thank you,
