I want to know that how mosfet drivers work and what is the advantage of using them . Why we cannot work with mosfet directly

Hi Aman,

Can you be more specific? What is it about mosfet drivers that you would like to know?

In general, mosfet drivers are required because:

1) the gate of a power mosfet requires a larger driver to turn it on and off fast.
2) many circuits use a N-channel FET to switch the supply voltage on and off. This requires the voltage at the gate of the FET to be 8 to 12V above the supply voltage. The mosfet driver handle this by using either a charge pump or bootstrap circuit.
