DRV88xx – About H-bridge motor driver which is the Linear current regulation.

Hi Team,

We are looking for the H-bridge motor driver which is the Linear current regulation.

However, I couldn't find this motor driver.

Could you please let me know it if you know the appropriate device?

If possible, could you please let me know the difference between “Linear current regulation” and “PWM current regulation”?

I understand it as follows.

-Linear is inefficient but there is not the switching noise.

-PWM is efficient but there is the switching noise.

Is my understanding correct?

Hi Kanemaru,

Your understanding is correct. As far as I know we do not have a motor driver that implements linear current regulation. It is generally not practical at the power levels we deal with. You may want to take a look at the LDO devices in TI's portfolio.

What kind of motor are you looking to drive?

Our customer have not decided the kind of the motor yet.

They are still studying stage.
