DRV8818 deglitch time

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8818

Hello,

My customer uses the DRV8818.

He connects a capacitance at the output pin to reduce a noise voltage.

He check a inrush current of capacitance, that is 4.5A during 110ns.

I explain that the OCP doesn't operate because a occurrence time is

less than deglitch time.

Then he wants to know a variation of the deglitch time.

Could you tell me a variation of the deglitch time?

Of course, I know that value is not guarantee.

Naoki Aoyama

  • Aoyama-San,

I would not worry much about OCP deglitch time, becuase nominal value is 1.5uS. For time being assume +/-50% worst case variation across temperature, it would mean variation of 750nsec to 2.2usec , way higher than 110nsec. I'm sure device has better tolerance than above assumption.

My worry is 4.5Amp continous peak current on device outputs everytime they switches, it is higher than 3.5Amp spec and may be issue for long term reliability. I would recommend adding small series resitance (5 to10ohm) with capcitors to limit the peak currents withing device spec.

  • Hi Milan,

Thank you for your very fast reply.

I will advise to my customer to adding series resistance.

    Thanks
