DRV3201 AGND

Hello

There are serveral analog ground pins to the DRV3201 (pin 11, 20, 27, 57, 51, and 39). What are they internally connected to, the current sense opamps maybe?

Are they ment to be connected to an analog ground plane or can they be connected to the digital ground?

The reason I ask is because I have an anlog ground plane for some other ADC stuff on my board. I want to keep this analog ground plane as quitet as possible and don't want any high currents from the DRV3201.

Best regards

Henrik

  • Hi Henrik,

We are contacting our expert on this device. He should reply soon.

  • good, I have a few other questions regarding the layout.

Would it be ok to ground the shunt resistor (at pin 31) to PGND? If it is possible, I also need to connect the reference pin for the internal current sense logic to PGND? The datasheet doesn't say which GND pin.

Would it be ok to connect VSH directly to the starpoint without 5ohm resistor and without a capacitor to gnd in case I have reverse battery protection. I know there is a R C for reverse battery protection, but is it also a filter go get more reliable readings from the comparator?

Would it be ok to ground the VS capacitor to PGND ( I guess the voltage at VS doesn't have to be that smooth)?

The AGND pins should all be grounded on the analog ground plane, these are all low current paths.

For clarification do you mean GNDLS_B through the 330mOhm shunt to PGND? If so, yes that is ok.

If it is possible, I also need to connect the reference pin for the internal current sense logic to PGND?

Could you clarify which pin you are referring to?

    Yes

    Yes that is fine
