DRV8842EVM Application Software

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8842

Following the instruction (section 3.1 in the data sheet for EVM DRV8842) there is a step #3 (highlighted in red). Where those COMMAND button are located and what is the code 100?

Thank you

Vladimir

3. After pressing any command button, <1><0><0> should return on the text box as an acknowledge.

The text box also changes from red to green.

  • Hi Vladimir,

The wording is confusing. When any input, VREF or PWM setting is changed the text box to the left of the version reports <1><0><0> to acknowledge the command transfer.

An example is shown in the image below. I move the VREF slider to the right and then back to 0.

  • Dear Rick,

My problem is that the red block does not turn to green after activating any control buttons.  It seems to me there is no communication between PC and EVM. During installation I did not have any warnings. Ports COM1,COM2 are available on PC. The microprocessor section looks good. 3.3V LED is steady ON. D2 is blinking with a period about one second. Motor voltage is 24V. All control signals from the microprocessor are LOW. The strange thing for me is no 3P3VOUT. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you,

    Vladimir

  • Hi Vladimir,

I agree. It does appear there is no communication between PC and EVM.

    What OS are you using?
What COM port is assigned to the EVM? On my PC it is COM 4. If it is not COM 1 through 4, can you re-assign the COM port to 4? Once assigned to port 4, please be sure to set the com port under Settings -> Port -> Com 4
Is it possible that you have selected an active port, which allows connection but not communication with the EVM?

  • Dear Rick,

I am using XP Windows and I have only Port1 and Port 2 available. EVM did not work on Port 1, but I tryed Port 2 and now it is working fine.

    Thank you for your help.

    Vladimir
