DRV8711 Direct PWM Input Mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8711, DRV8828

I hope to drive stepper motor with direct pwm input mode to get my own micro-step resolution.

(1) Is it possible to drive stepper motor with the direct pwm mode?

(2) Is it possible to add additional OPAMP for monitoring current on shunt resister ?

(3) When using the direct pwm mode, I wonder to kown the operation of auto mixed decay function.

Thanks.

Yes it is possible. Using the DRV8711 may not be the best option to do this. Have you looked at the DRV8828/29 as an alternative.

I am assuming you are referring to adding an external OPAMP to monitor the current. Yes, that is possible.

When using direct pwm mode, the chopping current is the same in both windings. It is up to the system to control the current in the windings.
