Hello,

I try to find good driver for BLDC motor from old CD drive. It is powered with 12V and has winding resistance 7,5 Ohms. My target rotational speed is constant 600rpm. Because it seems to be relatively slow speed, I would like to use Hall sensors to achieve the smallest torque ripples.

It looks like DRV8308 with CSD88537ND (like in DRV8308EVM) is a good solution, but I am newbie in motors. Could you correct me if I am wrong? Or suggest better solution?

Hi Daniel

If you want only Hall sensored solution, DRV8308EVM is of course a good kit to play with. Maybe the current capability of this kit is over your needs.

I think sensorless solution is also acceptable for CD/DVD applications. So you may look at DRV10983 as well. This 180 degree driver can give minimum torque ripples too.

Thank you. Now I will try DRV8308 with the kit and later I will compare it with DRV10983.
