The delay and the blanking time for DRV8832

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8832

I would like to confirm the delay and the blanking time for DRV8832.

1. How much is the delay time from input to output (propagation delay)?

2. I think DRV8832 has the blanking time for avoiding the through current Hi-side/Low-side.

    How much is the time?

3. Does the blanking time effect on output?

Best regards,

  • Hi Atsushi

    1. I remember in my test is shows about 2us delay. Also note that DRV8832 have the output PWM ramp up loop if the VSET is set to lower than supply voltage. The ramping could take 12ms to it's MAX duty.
    2. I think you mean the dead time of the half bridge, not the blanking time. The dead time is considered and protected internally based on the switching characteristics of the internal FETs. So we don't have to concern the shoot through from H-side to L-side. The internal dead time is at "ns" level.
    3. The blanking time is means when start the output, we give a time before we start to monitor the current level. This will not affect the output in terms of the delay time.

    Best regards,
