DRV8825: 1M resistor is recommended to be connected betweeen VCP and VMA/MB pins

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8825

Hi,

Can someone help advise why is there 1M ohm resistor needed at VCP pin, for DRV8825? I'm guessing it's for phase response of the current at different frequency?

I noticed the EVM for DRV8825 does not have this 1Mohm resistor. Is this a must in the design?

Thanks,

Kwan

  • Hi Kwan

The only thing could happen without the 1M resistor is that when the device is power off, the high sides internal MOSFETs maybe still turning on for some time after the VCP cap totally discharged.

This could cause the motor looks like locked even when the driver is totally power off when you try to move the motor manually.

    Best regards,
