[DRV8823]Can I use the extra channels as a switch?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8823

Hi,

I am considering the following configuration.
① Brushed DC motor 3channels and relay driver 2ch for solenoid drive.

②Brushed DC motor 4channels and relay driver 2ch for solenoid drive.

I think that  DRV8823 is best for the case ②.

For ①,  will not be able to use the DRV8823?

And give away the remaining H-bridge 1 channel, and lodge as an independent FET, I'm glad to be able to reduce one the IC.

I can consider another use if used as one of the FET.

However, if it is used as a relay driver, I would like to the PWM control of several hundred Hz.

Please tell me whether this method is possible.

Thanks.

  • Hi Tomoaki

I'm not sure I understand your configuration of 1 and 2. Are you trying to driver DC motor with one half bridge or with overlaped bridges.
Note that the half bridges in DRV8823 are not totally independent.

It is better to have draft for us discusstion.

The SPI interface should able the generate PWM at hundreds Hz.

    Best regards,
