Auto-calibration defaults for DRV2605

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2605

In trying to determine the appropriate value for LOOP_GAIN, I noticed that SLOS825C (7.5.6) say "A value of 2 is valid for most actuators", whereas 7.6.20 says that the default value is 1, and that "the default value should provide good performance for most actuators". I'm guessing that the "2" given in 7.5.6 is a typo, but would prefer to confirm this.

On a similar note, regarding AUTO_CAL_TIME, 7.5.6 says "A value of 3 is valid for most actuators", whereas 7.6.24 says that the default value is 2.

Regarding SAMPLE_TIME, 7.5.6 says "A value of 3 is valid for most actuators", whereas 7.6.22 says that the default value is 1, and "Advanced use only", which implies that the default value should be used.

BLANKING_TIME, 7.5.6 says "A value of 1 is valid for most actuators", whereas 7.6.22 says that the default value is 2, and "Advanced use only".

IDISS_TIME, 7.5.6 says "A value of 1 is valid for most actuators", whereas 7.6.22 says that the default value is 2, and "Advanced use only".

Please advise.

  • Michael,

Sorry for the confusion. I will look into this.

To answer your question, I would start with the device defaults. Then based on requirements I would advise tweaking these parameters.

If you have a scope capture of the LRA waveform, it will help more. Also please refer to the DRV2605 Setup Guide to make sure your waveforms are close to the ones in the verification.
