I understand that only DRV8837 chip have the PWM control on his IN pins and able to change the motor speed & direction.

The DRV8838 able to change direction only.

Tell me please am I wrong. If Yes , how may I control the motor speed in DRV8838

Hi Eli

DRV8838 can change direction and speed both as well.

Only the interface is different for DRV8837 and DRV8838. Both can achieve the same function of motor control.

Ex. DRV8838

1. Speed: PWM -> EN (Slow decay when EN LOW)

2. Dirction: DIR -> PH

Is it correct that with DRV8838 I can get only low or high speed, while with DRV8837 I can get any speed depend on the PWM?

You can get any speed depend on the PWM duty cycle with both DRV8837 or DRV8838. Just a little difference on which the inputs pattern. I just gave the example of DRV8838 with PWM duty cycle control in my last post.

Hi Eli

In datasheet we have table 2 for the control logic of DRV8838. Also in 8.2.3 for waveforms of different PWM duty cycle. Both DRV8837 and DRV8838 can achieve those waveforms.

For DRV8838, you can connect your PWM inputs as following.

1. connect your PWM singal to EN pin of DRV8838 (PWM can be 0% to 100%)

2. Another GPIO connected to PH pin for the direction control.
