about using the boost DRV8301

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301

i  asked yesterday about  the possibility to use the boost DRV8301 without the launch pad XL to control a BLDC with an other microcontroller . you said that it's possible and i can control the inputs per the schematic of the board,so can i use ONLY the PWM pins to drive my HALL effect SENSORED BLDC with my self built algorithm and unuse the ADC/SPI/GPIO pins.

  • Hi Gabri,

The ADC provides current information which is used to PWM the inputs once the desired current is reached.
The GPIO pins enable the device and accept fault information back from the device.
The SPI pins may be left unused if the default settings are acceptable, and there is no need to read or clear the faults through the SPI.

These details are available in the DRV8301 datasheet.
