Replace with TI motor driver

Hi Team,

My customer considers to use LV8702V.
I suggested DRV8812 but "High-efficient drive function" of LV8702V is attractive for his application.

I think TI doesn't have the motor driver that have the same function.
Is there any roadmap?

I would like to replace it.

  • Hi Yaita-san,

There is no motor driver with similar function. We do have the ability to change the current dynamically by adjusting VREF. If the motor characteristics are known, this can work in many applications.

The DRV8812 has a higher voltage limit than the LV8702V, so the motor should be able to run at higher speeds.

If the customer needs more current, the DRV8711 is available with external FETs.
  • Hello Yaita-san,
Just to add to what Rick said, the DRV8711 will sample the back-EMF and make it avaialble on an external pin. The customer can read this value and configure the motor current according to the motor load - very similar to the "High Efficient" function. The customer would have control over the properties of the control loop.
    Thanks,
    Matt
